COLUMBIA RIVER PADDLE SUPERVISOR

Full-time position

Job Summary:

The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Invermere Launch location during their shift. This includes supervising staff, managing customer interactions, ensuring safety and equipment maintenance, and maintaining efficient operations. The Shift Supervisor will ensure a positive and safe experience for all customers while also providing leadership and guidance to the team.

The main functions of a Supervisor are to:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Invermere Launch location during their shift
  • Supervise, train, and motivate rental attendants, ensuring that all staff deliver excellent customer service
  • Answer the phone and monitor emails to take bookings and respond to customer inquiries
  • Greet customers, answer inquiries, and assist with the rental process in a friendly and professional manner
  • Ensure rental paperwork is complete
  • Ensure customers receive proper orientation, including safety instructions, equipment fitting, and an overview of the rental process
  • Resolve customer complaints or issues in a professional and timely manner, ensuring a high level of satisfaction
  • Oversee the condition of canoes, paddles, life jackets, and other rental equipment, ensuring it is properly maintained, clean, and ready for use
  • Undertake maintenance as required and able; report any missing or damaged equipment to the manager for replacement or repair
  • Oversee the safe launching and docking of boats, ensuring a smooth and organized flow of rentals
  • Ensure all staff are aware of emergency procedures and how to respond to on-water incidents
  • Handle cash and payment transactions, completing the end of day cash out
  • Ensure the rental area and surrounding environment remain clean and organized
  • Manage group bookings & special bookings via email for booking and invoicing

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and staff
  • Knowledge of canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, water safety, and outdoor recreation practices
  • Ability to learn local knowledge and willingness to share with guests
  • Ability to manage operations efficiently, ensuring all tasks are completed on time
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions

Certifications (Preferred):

  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Class 4 Driver’s license (or willingness to obtain) with clean driving record

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Demands: The position requires being outdoors and physically active, including assisting with equipment, lifting canoes, and interacting with customers in various weather conditions.
  • Schedule: must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Seasonal (summer) role

Compensation:

  • Competitive hourly rate, based on experience.
  • Ability to use rental equipment after hours
